The Ultimate Beach Packing List

Nothing spoils a beach holiday like realising you've left the sun cream at home. Use this checklist to pack once, pack light and spend more time by the sea.

Beach bag essentials

• A roomy beach tote
• A quick-dry or sand-free beach towel
• Sun cream, after-sun and lip balm with SPF
• Sunglasses and a sun hat
• A reusable water bottle – ideally insulated to keep it cold
• A waterproof phone pouch
• A wet bag for swimwear on the way home

For the water

• Snorkel set or goggles
• Beach shoes for rocky shores
• Swim floats for kids – always with an adult close by

For shade and comfort

• A pop-up beach tent or windbreak
• A beach blanket or mat
• A cool bag for drinks and snacks

In your suitcase

• Packing cubes to separate swimwear, outfits and evening wear
• A toiletry bag with 100 ml bottles if you're flying with hand luggage
• Plug adapters for your destination
• A laundry bag for damp and sandy clothes

Top tips

• Pack swimwear and one outfit in your hand luggage in case your case is delayed.
• Roll towels and beachwear – it saves space and reduces creases.
